Safety Technician

The primary duties of this position are:
Provides a wide range of administrative support to the Safety Team. Uses automated systems to enter, update, and maintain safety inspections, deficiencies, and accident history reports. Performs routines inspections of office workspace, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and AED's. Assists with accident investigations by taking photos and preparing other materials as needed. Prepares materials and provides other administrative and technical assistance for safety meetings, events, and other activities. Substitution of Education/Specialized Experience Requirements:
In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that the applicant meets the education or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume. To qualify at the GS-07 level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience (defined below) equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service OR you must possess one full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in a major field of study which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position such as safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, or other directly related subjects. Equivalent combination of education and experience is qualifying at the GS-07 grade level. Specialized
Experience:
Experience identifying, preventing, or eliminating safety hazards in a work place and/or environmental conditions; providing guidance concerning technical and regulatory safety and occupational health programs to eliminate or minimize human injury, property and productivity losses for an organization; OR conducting surveys, audits, fire drill and hazardous materials inspections/monitoring for an organization. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If selected, the selectee will be required to provide official college transcripts to verify educational qualifications. An official transcript must be sent directly from the University's Registrar's office and must be provided from the institution awarding the degree. Academic transcripts certified by notary publics are NOT official. Official transcripts must be submitted prior to reporting to work as a condition of employment. Failure to submit official transcripts may be grounds for dismissal or rescission of the job offer.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
