The Distribution Specialist coordinates and supervises the shipments of a wide range of finished products and raw materials to various warehouses throughout the country.
In order to ensure that inventory is allocated correctly based on its projected demand, it is essential that shipments are coordinated and tracked at every stage of the distribution process, using the ERP system within the organization to maximize the efficiency of each shipment.
There are many aspects involved in this process, which include reviewing weekly reports, updating shipment information on a daily basis, preparing appropriate shipping documentation, and negotiating freight rates and lanes on behalf of the company.
Additionally, they must demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills, multitasking skills, as well as excellent communication skills, and an exceptional level of attention to detail.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Manage and organize monthly stock transfers from production sites and warehouses in accordance with the sales demand plan provided by the demand team.
Calculate the transportation quantities for the demand plan using appropriate pallet configurations and carrier size amounts.
Utilize JD Edwards ERP software to manage all phases of stock transfers, including the creation of transactions, tracking, confirming shipments, and receiving deliveries.
Maintain logistical control over the movement of all US raw material purchases to the feeder warehouses ordered by the Supply Chain department.
Utilizes Excel spreadsheets and automated reports provided by ERP software and third-party logistics providers to track in-route materials in order to verify the accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
Monitor open transfers, open receivers, and open purchase orders on a weekly and monthly basis in order to ensure timely delivery.
Stage all damaged or reworked products for quarterly disposals and productions, along with issuing out inventory as damaged products are disintegrated by the disposal company.
Assist with the recording of data and filing of claims for shipments with damaged products, lost material, or discrepancies in order to support accurate inventory, accounting, or recordkeeping.
Work closely with the 3PL for all transportation needs to ensure the status of shipments is always updated.
Ensure that proper shipping procedures are followed in accordance with requests from various departments such as supply chain, customer service, and logistics in order to ensure a smooth shipping process.
On a weekly basis, monitor, analyze, and process consolidated freight invoices for all domestic and Canadian shipments to ensure accurate freight costs are provided.
To determine the most accurate and effective future costs, create and updates landed cost per product on a yearly basis using archived and new information.
Assist with other departmental needs within the Imports and Exports division as needed.
Required Skills and Experience Ground freight operational experience including responding to RFQs/RFPs and monitoring costs.
Experience working in logistics domestic operations, including 2-3 years in a regulated industry preferred.
Excellent communication skills; interfaces with various departments internally and externally.
Ability to handle multiple urgent tasks and multitask simultaneously.
Detail-oriented, well-organized, and time-management skills are required.
The ability to adapt to new situations and improve processes with a positive attitude.
Strong computer skills include knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and ERP systems.
IMDG, DOT, and IATA certifications are preferred.
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Trade and/or Transportation from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
Chemical or Ag Chemical experience preferred.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
