NATURE OF WORKUnder general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty preparing, processing, verifying and reconciling account and fiscal documentation; providing direct customer service on accounts and Treasurer's Office functions; may serve as lead worker as designated; handles cash including receiving, counting, balancing, and securing, cash money according to office policy; Front-line customer service professional, greeting customers and supporting the financial management and operation of the Yuma County Treasurer through maintenance of real estate and personal property tax records and reports; this position has countywide specific responsibility.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (Illustrative Only) Balance cash drawer various times on a daily basis and reconciles discrepancies.
Answers incoming phone calls; determines and undertakes routing to party; records and delivers messages.
Reviews, verifies, and processes customer's payments into system; provides excellent customer service in person and telephonically; sorts and files correspondence, forms, reports and other materials; maintains and creates records and reports; prepares routine correspondence, forms, etc.

) on Tyler system as needed; review legal documents and communicate with law firms regarding foreclosures and bankruptcies; process tax payments received; accurately maintain and process tax payments and balance till; processes title work and payments; processes judgment deeds; processes tax lien expirationsProcesses Tax Lien assignments, Tax Lien transfers, and Endorsements; may process bankruptcies; may process title company payments; may process treasurer's receipts; may provide backup in verifying and entering Treasurer's Receipt deposits; may provide backup for balancing, closing and creating deposits; may provide notary services; responsible for replenishing office supplies; collect investor information to create tax liens; may assist in preparation of audits; maintains high standards of confidentiality regarding the client and sensitive information; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED equivalent; and twenty (20) semester hours of post high school course work in accounting or closely related field and four (4) years of general accounting or three (3) years of governmental fund accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Some departments may require a successful completion of a background check, polygraph and drug test prior to appointment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Knowledge of:
County policies and procedures; governmental accounting principles and practices; property tax laws (some departments may require); special revenue funds (some departments may require); automated accounting systems; file maintenance procedures and practices; office practices and procedures; principles and practices of supervision; grant financial procedures and requirements.
Skill in:
Performing and verifying mathematical computations; using computerized budget/financial tracking and reporting programs; preparing computerized spreadsheets.
Ability to:
Operate general office equipment; follow written and verbal instructions; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; sit, stand, bend and lift up to 15 pounds; maintain a high standard of confidentiality; deescalate difficult situations and handle upset customers; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Work EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking and 20% standing; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under extreme likelihood of verbal abuse from hostile and frustrated customers.
