Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORK Under general supervision, performs skilled work of moderate difficulty in the repair and maintenance of automotive and heavy equipment; work is subject to exposure to varying weather conditions and exposure to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, grease and hazardous materials; involves lifting of 25-50 pounds; this position has department specific responsibility; employees in safety-sensitive positions are subject to DOT alcohol/drug testing on a random basis or for reasonable suspicion.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES (Illustrative Only) Diagnosis, repairs and maintains various types of automotive systems in the equipment fleet; performs preventative maintenance of engines, transmissions, transaxles, transfer cases, rear ends and chassis lubrication; commutes to locations requiring servicing and repair assistance; inputs complete documentation, into computerized software program, of all service time, service performed and parts replaced for each piece of equipment serviced; road tests vehicles and operates equipment; maintains inventory of tires and supplies; keeps work area clean on a daily basis; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned; provides on-call, 24-7 services on a predetermined rotation schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND two (2) years of recent experience in the maintenance and repair of automotive and heavy equipment; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within six (6) months of employment, preference given to those applicants that possess Class A CDL; requires successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug test; must possess own hand tools.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Knowledge of:
County policies and procedures; methods, practices, materials, precision instruments and tools used in automotive and equipment maintenance; safety rules and practices, OSHA safety guidelines, First Aid and CPR; hydraulic, electrical, power train, refrigeration, and engines for various types of vehicles and equipment; the proper use of mobile air conditioning refrigerant recovery and recycling equipment; the safe handling, disposal and storage of all hazardous materials.
Skill in:
Diagnosis and repair of mechanical and electrical problems in the vehicle fleet; utilizing diagnostic equipment; creating and maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records on vehicles and equipment; interpreting technical manuals and related diagrams; creating and maintaining accurate repair and maintenance records on vehicles and equipment; following written and verbal instructions.
Ability to:
Work in varying extreme weather conditions; be exposed to exhaust and chemical fumes, oil, grease and hazardous materials; lift of 25-50 pounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers; stand and bend; (30%); walk and stoop; (20%)EOE/AA/ADAAA/M/F/V/D DRUG FREE WORKPLACE.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
